Love Language, Misunderstood and a Bunch of Cool Shit

28. What is your love language?
29. What do you think people misunderstand most about you?
30. List 10 things you would hope to be remembered for.

Love -  I have a couple of love languages.  My number one that I need to feel loved is words of affirmation.  I also enjoy receiving gifts and giving them for that matter.  I'm a gift giver and when have a really great friend or a boyfriend, I buy gifts.  Every time I'm out and about I'm always thinking of others first, "Oh Mike would love that", "This screams Chloe."

Misunderstood - I think people don't quite understand how sensitive and self conscious I can be.  I have a pretty tough attitude and have a high level of confidence.  However, when it comes to those that are close to me, my skin is not thick at all.  Also, even thought I'm confident, I still really need confirmation from people, see above Love language.

Remembered for -
  1. My ability to be a great friend and express my love for friends and family
  2. My career, the contributions I've made to all of my jobs
  3. How fun I am
  4. My sense of humor
  5. My rotten toe (bwahahaha)
  6. My deviled eggs
  7. My pudding shots
  8. Being the voice of reason
  9. Being a bit wacky, quirky, crazy
  10. My love making (ha ha, totally joking)
I'm DONE!!!!  It only took me 42 days, no big thang.  I hope you enjoyed getting to know me.

What I'm liking tonight:

What Am I Not Buying Today? Damn Budget!

I still go online shopping every day, but I resist adding to my cart.  Sometimes I even add it to my cart and then close out the website.  I have a real problem.  But, I thought I'd share the things I found today that I really, really wanted.

Killer Boots - $29.99 at Zulily

Acai and Tagua Bracelet -  $15.99 at Zulily

Instant Iron-ons - $16 at Fred Flare

Profanity Coasters - $32 at Etsy

  1. There was only one time that I got spanked as a kid, and boy did I deserve it.  I was at daycare and my friend invited me to leave with her family and go to the beach.  I asked the daycare lady and she instructed me to call my mom and ask, well mom didn't answer the phone.  So little, menacing Alicia decided to fake a phone conversation and say that mom said it's okay.  Fast forward 4 hours later when I get dropped off at home and pretty much my entire family was at my house freaking out.  My parents didn't know where I was, who I was with or if I was alive. My mom spanked me pretty hard and I deserved it!!!  She came in later to apologize, which I think is so funny.  But, I did learn to not do anything that stupid again.
  2. My favorite vacation with my family had to have been when we went to California to stay with my uncle Henry.  On said trip, we visited Sea World, Disney Land, Knots Berry Farms, Tijuana and I'm sure a whole lot more.  The coolest thing is that my uncle's cousin filmed the whole trip, so we can go back and reminisce about the times.  It was a magical trip with the family full of laughs, farts, Michael Jackson impressions, longest chess game ever, my sister torturing me and so much more.
  3. Me and my sister used to take the bus everywhere, the mall, the bowling alley, to the thrift store, etc.  One day the bus brought us to Drug Emporium where they were having a grand opening.  It was filled with all kinds of fun and there was a radio station there broadcasting, a big freaking deal for little old Everett.  Seems so weird now, times have changed.  They were having a bubble blowing contest and I entered and won!  I got to talk on the radio, which at middle school age is pretty damn cool.  Also, I won a year supply of Bubblicious.  I was so sick of that gum by the end of a year.  It was a crazy, memorable experience for a kid of my age.
I have so many amazing, funny and significant childhood memories, these are just the first three that came to my head.

Celebrate Your Inner Foodie or Buy Some Cool Stuff

Music mood of today:  gangster rap.  I made dinner to Dr. Dre Chronic 2001.  It was heavenly.  I love going through my old CD's and seeing what jumps out at me.

Turns out there even more amazing things going on this weekend.  Consider it Weekend Wanderings Part II.  And for those that can't enjoy these amazing Seattle events, I'll share some pretty cool online shopping finds.

Saturday, September 15th

Mobile Food Rodeo – The Mobile Food Truck Rodeo debuted last September and now is a bi-annual event, in May and September.  The festival is now a free-entrance event and offers over 30 food trucks to sample.  Honestly, last year I didn't have the patience to wait in the long line just to get in, although I heard great things about it. Sounds like the creators learned their lesson though and now offer a charity beer garden, much more seating and as mentioned above no entrance fee.

Details:
  • 12pm-7pm @ South Lake Union
  • Free entrance, just go enjoy the trucks.  You can purchase a VIF pass for $25 ahead of time or $35 at the door, and avoid lines and get some extra swag.
  • Food trucks include:
    • Dante's Inferno Dogs
    • Flair Taco
    • Bistro Box
    • Skillet Street Food
    • Snout & Co
    • Fusion on the Run
  • Parking will be the typical street parking situation in this area, perhaps the bus would be a good option.
Hops and Crops Brew Festival – Craft brew and music festival all benefiting the restoration of educational programming at Mary Olson Farm.

Details:
  • 12pm-6pm @ Mary Olson Farm (918 H St SE, Auburn Community Campus, Auburn, WA)
  • Sampler admission is $15 for a taster cup and 5 tastes.  Kids under 13 are free, general admission is $7.
  • Tons of breweries, bands, crafts, kids fun and more.

Cool Finds:

Power Cup - $34.17 @ Amazon.  It's a power inverter for your car.  You can plug in anything!!

Funny Flasks - $18 @ Urban Outfitters.  Enough Said.

Misfortune Cookies - $9.99 @ Think Geek.  The cookies that hate you!  I feel like I need to just start passing these around at work.

Have a great weekend!

I'm On An Online Deal Diet As Of Now

I came home from vacation to a ginormous pile of boxes!  It was super exciting. But, I've gone overboard, I admit it, I have an addiction.

I frequent the following online deal sites (yes, please check them out so I'm not alone in this):

  1. Fab
  2. Zulily
  3. Living Social
  4. Groupon
  5. Woot
  6. Bloomspot
  7. Amazon Deals
  8. HauteLook

My Amazon order, the most exciting part is the candy molding stuff.  Still waiting on my owl molds.

My amazing giraffe print knives.  They make me feel so wild!  Rahr.

I can't wait to wear these out!  Daylon, my most hipster-est friend of all time, made these an started an Etsy shop.  When I found out about the shop, I had to have them.

My new shoes; can't wait for my sister to make fun of them.  They're so freaking comfortable though.

My cat is a little fatty; I take full responsibility.  But, now she gets exercise with this amazing laser spinny number.  It is so incredible to watch her chase it around.  I kind of feel bad because she's never going to be able to catch it.

I'm pretty sure I have several more boxes on the way.  But, for now I'm deleting all emails from the above sites!  No joke.  It is going to be so hard.

Zulily Obsession

I believe I've traded in my obsession with Fab for an obsession with Zulily. Before I would only shop Zulily for clothes and shoes for Chloe, but then I purchased my infamous tunic and realized that they have amazing women's clothes. I went a little crazy today.

Dily Black Owl Dress - $17.99, I haven't had anything this quirky since my Jetson's capris that I got at The Red Light in the U-District back in high school.

I know I have an addiction to deal shopping.  But, I swear, I need more shirts.  If you see me buy jeans then you can perform an intervention, deal?

If you haven't checked out Zulily yet, you need to. Secretly I want others to share my obsession so I don't feel as bad.

Goods That Make Me Go Hmm

Just got back from a long weekend with no technology.  We were out of range, so every time I clicked on Facebook or my Emails I was saddened by the “lost connection” message.  It’s almost embarrassing to admit how addicted I am to be “connected”.  But, I have to say it is a treat to catch up on emails, blogs and news from the social real when I get back.  So this post is a few products that caught my eye and made me go hmm.
What’s a better way to get that delicious ice cream in your throat hole quicker?  A shovel utensil make for ice cream.  Well, it’s made for the Indian dessert Kulfi, but it’s the Indian equivalent.  These spoons are definitely going on my wish list.

Smoky food and drinks are all the rage these days.  So why not mix smoky with your dessert ingredients?  These smoked chocolate chips frighten me a bit, but I think they have potential.  I generally don’t like to mix savory with sweet but my most favorite thing these days is caramel with sea salt.  I think chocolate chip cookies made with these would be delicious.
Who doesn’t get intrigued by silver balls?  They remind me of the teeth breakers that we put on our Christmas Cookies.  These are Japanese mints believe it or not.  The retailer of these says, you either love them or hate them.  That makes me want to give it a go.
This pan creates a Hong Kong favorite, called “egg waffles”.  These are sold by sidewalk vendors as breakfast and a snack.  The pan creates a unique waffle that has crispy golden creases with doughy, tender, creamy centers.  I’m definitely a waffle fan over pancakes so I would love to give this variation a try.  I can just imagine my powdered sugar getting caught in all the crevices!
