Music mood of today:  gangster rap.  I made dinner to Dr. Dre Chronic 2001.  It was heavenly.  I love going through my old CD's and seeing what jumps out at me.

Turns out there even more amazing things going on this weekend.  Consider it Weekend Wanderings Part II.  And for those that can't enjoy these amazing Seattle events, I'll share some pretty cool online shopping finds.

Saturday, September 15th

Mobile Food Rodeo – The Mobile Food Truck Rodeo debuted last September and now is a bi-annual event, in May and September.  The festival is now a free-entrance event and offers over 30 food trucks to sample.  Honestly, last year I didn't have the patience to wait in the long line just to get in, although I heard great things about it. Sounds like the creators learned their lesson though and now offer a charity beer garden, much more seating and as mentioned above no entrance fee.

Details:

• 12pm-7pm @ South Lake Union
• Free entrance, just go enjoy the trucks.  You can purchase a VIF pass for $25 ahead of time or $35 at the door, and avoid lines and get some extra swag.
• Food trucks include:
• Dante's Inferno Dogs
• Flair Taco
• Bistro Box
• Skillet Street Food
• Snout & Co
• Fusion on the Run
• Parking will be the typical street parking situation in this area, perhaps the bus would be a good option.

Hops and Crops Brew Festival – Craft brew and music festival all benefiting the restoration of educational programming at Mary Olson Farm.

Details:

• 12pm-6pm @ Mary Olson Farm (918 H St SE, Auburn Community Campus, Auburn, WA)
• Sampler admission is $15 for a taster cup and 5 tastes.  Kids under 13 are free, general admission is $7.
• Tons of breweries, bands, crafts, kids fun and more.

Cool Finds:

Power Cup - $34.17 @ Amazon.  It's a power inverter for your car.  You can plug in anything!!

Funny Flasks - $18 @ Urban Outfitters.  Enough Said.

Misfortune Cookies - $9.99 @ Think Geek.  The cookies that hate you!  I feel like I need to just start passing these around at work.

What’s Going On This Weekend? In Seattle!

One of the qualities that I pride myself on is my social planning skills.  It comes from my love for Google-ing, my desire to be busy all of the time, and my need for adventure.  If you find yourself wondering, “What am I going to do this weekend?”, just ask me and I’ll give you options.  Here I will line out some options for this upcoming weekend.

Friday, August 10th @ dusk (8:30ish)

Three Dollar Cinema @ Cal Anderson Park:  This is a free screening.  They offer popcorn, drink, candy and other concessions for purchase.  Limited seating so bring a lawn chair.  And remember, “Follow the Yellow Brick Road.”
Saturday, August 11th @ dusk (8:30ish)

Fremont Outdoor Movies:  This one isn’t free, but only $5 for admission.  Doors open at 7pm and they provide some pre-show entertainment.  Movie trivia, a photo booth and more.  There are food trucks that make an appearance; Crisp Creperie and Parfait will be making an appearance for your tasty enjoyment.

Seattle Tattoo Expo @ Seattle Center:  Go enjoy the art of ink at this annual expo.  There are artists and vendors from around the country, fun daily contest, and nifty events and performances.
Friday, August 10th, Noon-11PM

South Lake Union Block Party @ Denny Way & Westlake Ave N:  This is a FREE event with a burger grilling competition, beer garden, food sampling, children’s play area, and Dazed & Confused premiering @ dusk.  This one sounds like a blast.  Tons of local restaurants and food trucks will be there to fill your belly.  Deschutes, Georgetown, Lagunitas, Lazy Boy and Snoqualmie Breweries will quickly make you forget your long week.  Drink responsibly!
Saturday, August 11th, all day (tomato battle begins @ 4pm)

Tomato Battle @ Pyramid Ale House:  The Tomato Battle unifies as many as 5,000 fruit-chucking fanatics for an afternoon of dancing to music, sipping libations, and flinging 300,000 pounds of roma tomatoes at one another.  Wear a costume for the costume contest.  And be sure to bring an extra set of clothes!  Tickets are pricey ($50 bones), but can you put a price on throwing tomatoes at your best friend or frienemy?
